HIKING, BIKING & DOG-FRIENDLY TRAILS
With and estimated total of 15 miles of trails we have something for everyone to enjoy! (For summer use only). Grand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District has developed scenic mountain biking and hiking trails on the recreation district land. There are a variety of distances and difficulty levels, from short loops to a 6-mile round-trip hike/bike, many dog-friendly options, and a picnic area overlooking a beautiful wetland.  We have wildlife - Beware of wildlife.

HIKERS: Wander through forested land or venture down to the North Fork of the Colorado River. The Colorado River Trail is the main trail on our system with several small connecting trails (the Colorado River Trail is 5.2 miles round-trip).

BIKIERS: Ride the single track trails through fun and exciting terrain, with vistas of the three lakes, Colorado River, and wetlands with wild flowers.

TRAILHEAD / PARKING
Take US Hwy 34 North toward Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. Go past the entrance to the town of Grand Lake for approximately ¼ mile, and turn left on County Road 48 - Golf Course Road. Go one mile and look for trail head parking on the left.

CAUTION: during high winds patrons should exercise caution when using the trails because the potential of the trees falling is a hazard of the trail system.

COMMENTS FROM
OUR SKIERS:
This was the best place on Earth and now it’s even better with the bridge to cross the river and discover new areas. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The trails are awesome! What a great place to “Get away from it all!” - Chip and Gertie

Thank you so much for building these trails. It’s a realy treat to have them so close to Grand Lake. I’m thankful to be able to mountain bike on the trails. We loved discovering the wetlands and riding by the river. - Moira

I love being able to take my dog on an unleashed hike. He loves it! The bridge is beautiful and the trails are great and well maintained. - Phyllis

We would like to thank you for the two bridges and new hiking trails (especially the single tracks). We hike the trails at least five times a week with our dogs, we bring friends and family here, and everyone loves it! - Deb and Hank

Wonderful hike and I loved the trail along the river. Very efficient signs, as well as convenient picnic tables and benches. Great work! - Genna and Suzanne

Thanks for making bike and dog-friendly trails. I’ve been here ten plus times and I keep finding more routes to take! - Steve
