Hiking, Biking and Dog-friendly TrailsGrand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District has developed scenic hiking and mountain biking trails on the recreation district land. There are a variety of distances and difficulty levels, from short loops to a 6-mile round-trip hike/bike, many dog-friendly options, and a picnic area overlooking a beautiful wetland. With and estimated total of 15 miles of trails we have something for everyone to enjoy! (For summer use only).

Wander through forested land or venture down to the North Fork of the Colorado River. The Colorado River Trail is the main trail on our system with several small connecting trails. We have all levels of hiking available. The system features everything from a short and scenic trail that is ½ a mile long, to a 5-mile round trip hike to the Colorado River.

Improvement Update:
The lookout over the golf course and the trail system are complete offering a great view of Mount Baldy, the trails and the golf course. And, benches are in place along our trail system for viewing of wildlife, the wetlands, the Colorado River, or just to sit and take a break. We also added four new picnic spots for our hikers and bikers to enjoy. We completed the single track trail to the Colorado River, thanks to the assistance of a few volunteers. Our trails are now a true single-track hiking and biking trail system with many trails that wind around our 400 acres. We have additional plans for the future with many more trails to come on the land that has not yet been utilized. In 2014 we plan to continue to improve the trail system and picnic area.
